You are invited to join us for a special Zoom session – on Tuesday 6 May at 7pm – exploring the history of Reform and Liberal Judaism in the UK with Rabbi Dr Andrew Goldstein and Rabbi Dr Jonathan Romain MBE.
We previously ran this session in early April, but due to Zoom issues our capacity was limited. We are therefore running it again, with the problem resolved, so that everyone can attend!
The Zoom link is the same as before. If you don’t have it then please email hello@progressivejudaism.org.uk.
The session will be delivered by two of Britain’s most senior and longest-serving rabbis – one from each tradition. They will explore how the once significant differences between our two denominations have evaporated – and examine the principles, practices and ideologies that are shared as we move towards the co-creation of one single Progressive Judaism for the UK.
Rabbi Dr Jonathan Romain is one of Britain’s most recognisable Jewish leaders, with regular appearances on TV and radio. In a rabbinic career of more than 45 years, he has written a number of notable works – including the definitive history of Reform Judaism – and currently serves as Convenor of the Reform Judaism Beit Din. He was awarded an MBE for his work supporting and welcoming mixed-faith couples and families within the Jewish community.
Rabbi Dr Andrew Goldstein has been a Liberal rabbi for more than 55 years, celebrated for his extensive contributions to Jewish liturgy, education and community leadership. A former President of Liberal Judaism and Chair of the European Union for Progressive Judaism, he has a deep knowledge of the history of Progressive Judaism both in the UK and abroad. His contributions also include serving as Co-Editor of both the Liberal High Holy Days Machzor and Haggadah, and chairing the Editorial Committee for its Siddur.
