Liberal Judaism is inviting all 43 of our congregations to take part in a special Community Project to be unveiled at this year’s Biennial Weekend.

Designed to fit perfectly into the theme for our flagship event – which is ‘The Formula for Truly Progressive Judaism’ – each community is being asked to create their own ‘chemical symbol’ to form an overall periodic table of Liberal Judaism.

This week, communities will be sent a piece of material with a ‘chemical symbol’ that denotes their community to decorate with images, words and anything else that symbolise their community or makes them unique. A template with your community’s assigned chemical symbol and the age of your community as the periodic number, will accompany the piece of material as a starting point.

All the pieces of material will be sewn together and the periodic table of Liberal Judaism will be on display at the Biennial Weekend.

Liberal Judaism’s director of strategy and partnerships, Rabbi Charley Baginsky, said: “We can’t wait to see all the special symbols our communities design, and then watch those individual elements coming together for the Biennial Weekend to create an artwork that portrays our wonderful movement.”

Keep an eye out for your community’s element and get creative!

If you have any questions about the project, please contact Tom on t.rich@liberaljudaism.org or 020 7580 1663.

Liberal Judaism’s Biennial Weekend 2018 takes place from Friday June 29 to Sunday July 1 at the stylish and modern St Johns Hotel in Solihull, just outside of Birmingham. For more information and to book your place, please click here.
