At Sunday’s cross-communal rally for the hostages, Rabbis Charley Baginsky and Josh Levy, Co-Leads of Progressive Judaism, were invited to speak. Although the rally was organised by Stop the Hate and supported by national Jewish bodies, we were assured it was about the hostages, and that our presence was both agreed and welcome. When our rabbis began to speak, parts of the crowd booed. Before they could finish, they were forcibly removed from the stage, despite having shared remarks in advance, fully in line with what is said at weekly hostage rallies in Israel.
