Elstree concert

A night of beautiful music and deep emotion played out at The Liberal Synagogue Elstree (TLSE) for the opening of their Arts at Elstree concert series. It featured cellist Ellen Baumring-Gledhill, who is also the artistic director of the Arts programme, and pianist Dafydd Chapman (pictured).

The duo captivated an audience of more than 60 with a rich and diverse programme which included the moving pieces From Jewish Life by Ernest Bloch. Ellen Baumring-Gledhill’s artistry on the cello shone through in Prokofiev’s Cello Sonata, the rhythms of De Falla’s Suite Populaire Espagnole brought a lively energy to the evening, and the concert also included Rachmaninov’s lyrical Cello Sonata.

Ellen Baumring-Gledhill was delighted by the evening’s success. “The concert went really well,” she said. “We had an audience of more than 60, and their warmth and enthusiasm made the experience for everyone truly special. The Arts at Elstree series could not have got off to a better start.”

The next event will take place on Sunday 20 July at 5pm, featuring Lithuanian-born pianist Milda Daunoraite who has previously performed at Wigmore Hall, the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Laeiszhalle in the Elbphilharmonie, and the United Nations in Geneva.
