The congregation at Bedfordshire Progressive Synagogue (BPS) are looking to donate an Ark and Bimah to any community who needs one.
The Ark holds a special place in the history of Liberal Judaism, as it was made by the late and much-loved Rabbi Lawrence Rigal more than 40 years ago.
Hilary Fox of BPS said: “The Ark and Bimah served our community very well until we had to leave our regular home at the Quaker Meeting House in Luton. Now we use a custom made travelling Ark for our roving services, so we hope that Rabbi Lawrence’s Ark and the Bimah can be recycled and used by another synagogue.”
BPS also have eight stacking chairs to give away. All items need to be collected from mid-Bedfordshire.
For a full set of photos and measurements, and/or to express an interest in taking the items, please email Hilary on hilarycfox@hotmail.co.uk.
