The Liberal Jewish Synagogue (LJS) hosted a memorable Tikkun Leyl Shavuot, bringing together diverse voices for a night of learning and commemoration.
The event began with a tour of a local mosque and St John’s Wood Church, where Reverend Dr Anders Bergquist shared insights into the church’s history. This interfaith event set the tone for an evening focused on unity and understanding, reinforcing the importance of shared traditions and mutual respect.
The Erev Shavuot service, led by Rabbi Avi Dabush from Rabbis for Human Rights, delivered a moment of reflection on justice and ethical responsibility.
After the service, everyone enjoyed a buffet and a lively cheesecake competition (pictured), adding a festive touch as discussions continued on Jewish thought, human rights and the significance of Shavuot.
The evening ended in the traditional ‘Rabbis at Midnight’ chat, where Rabbi Avi and Reverend Anders – along with the LJS’ Rabbi Igor Zinkov – shared their perspectives on faith, activism, and community leadership.
The occasion strengthened interfaith connections, leaving participants inspired for future gatherings after a night of understanding, connection, and observance.
