Progressive Judaism was deeply saddened by the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis on Easter Monday.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to our Catholic friends and to all who mourn his loss, holding in our thoughts those for whom his leadership and compassion were a source of hope and inspiration.

Last year Rabbi Robyn Ashworth-Steen and Rabbi Warren Elf were among a delegation of Manchester religious and civic leaders that travelled to Rome for an audience with Pope Francis to share an urgent commitment to countering climate change. Rabbi Robyn paid her own tribute on BBC TV and will shortly be writing an article for the Jewish News.
