Liberal Judaism’s rabbis have raised concern at remarks made by Lee Anderson MP on Tuesday.

A spokesperson for the Conference of Liberal Rabbis and Cantors said: “As British Jewish leaders, we are only too aware of the impact that hostility towards minorities and immigrant communities can have.

“Invective such as ‘f*** off back to France’ is unacceptable and has no place in a civilised democracy. We call on all MPs and policy-makers across the political spectrum to be more responsible and more restrained in the language they use, and to recognise the innate humanity of everybody in our country, regardless of where they came from or how they got here.”
