12 November 2015
The Alliance for Progressive Judaism (Liberal Judaism and the Movement for Reform Judaism) and in partnership with Citizens UK are inviting congregations to take part in a Community Organising Training Weekend which will take place on 14 and 15 November 2015.
Community Organising is a process by which synagogues seek to build deep relationships amongst our own members and then with the members of other local organisations including schools, colleges, churches, and mosques to transform our institutions and to effect change in our local areas.
This weekend is aimed at those members motivated by the Jewish principle of tikkun olam: repairing the world who may already be involved in social justice projects but who want to use the tradition and tools of community organising to enable our congregations to act in partnership with others to achieve practical results in local areas.
Following last year’s successful weekend in Nottingham, this one will open with a service at 9am at the Finchley Progressive Synagogue, 54 Hutton Grove, London, N12 8DR until havdallah on Shabbat 14 November and continue at a The Sternberg Centre, 80 East End Road, London, N3 2SY from 9am until 6pm on Sunday 15 November. The cost of the programme per delegate is being kept to a minimum at £40. Participants are asked to cover the cost of their own travel and we are able to offer home hospitality if required.
The Alliance for Progressive Judaism and Citizens UK will deliver the training and provide all necessary materials through its dedicated Community Organiser, Charlotte Fischer who would be pleased to work with you to help identify suitable participants.
For further details and to register your delegates please contact Aaron Abraham, Executive Assistant to Danny Rich at a.abraham@liberaljudiasm.org or 0207 631 9830.
