Manchester Liberal Jewish Community (MLJC) hosted a sold-out Evening of Klezmer to mark World AIDS Day.

The concert saw Klezmorim of Manchester – the group which comprises current and former students of Manchester University’s music department – play Vessels of Song: Journeys Through the Worlds of Klezmer to rapturous applause.

The programme included music from the Old and New World, classical, Irish, Yiddish theatre and swing eras.

The community’s Owen Power said: “The band certainly did us proud. The music was extraordinarily uplifting, a fusion of traditional and contemporary and so danceable – the perfect recipe!”
