Norwich Sukkot

Rabbi Martina Loreggian led a truly multi-faith Sukkot service for Norwich Liberal Jewish Community.

A great turn-out included the Sheriff of Norwich and his Consort, the Deputy Mayor and city councillors, priests and congregants from the Church of England, and members of the local Muslim, Quaker and Pagan communities.

Linda Albin, Chair of Norwich Liberal Jewish Community, said: “I think the take away was that in addition to the attendance of civic representatives and dignitaries, the support from faith leaders, people of different faiths and no faith is testament to a sense of shared values and community in Norwich.”

As one participant added: “As the Sukkot demonstrated, we all have an innate sense of the importance of the gifts of Nature, whether we see those deriving from a monotheist creator God, a more polytheist creative impulse or something else. I would like our communities to work together. If I may be so bold as to use a Jewish term, Shalom!”
