Celebrating our Chatanim and Kallot Torah and Bereishit

16 October 2025 – 24 Tishri 5786

Wimbledon Synagogue

The Movement for Progressive Judaism wishes a hearty mazel tov to all those honoured as Chatanim and Kallot Torah and Bereishit in our communities this Simchat Torah.

Many of our congregations call up two (or more) special people to recite blessings, one as the Torah ends and the other as it begins, in a recognition of their dedication and commitment to the synagogue. Some use the names ‘Chatan’ (bridegroom) and ‘Kallat’ (bride) to designate these roles, while others prefer the term Simchat Torah Honourees.

We have listed all those we know about below and are delighted to celebrate them. If you have names to add, please email GrahamM@progressivejudaism.org.uk. In this article, as it is public, we are using first names only. Pictures are published with permission.
