Liberal Judaism and Reform Judaism are proud to support a special concert to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the oldest Progressive Jewish institution in Israel.
The evening of music and celebration will mark 80 years since the founding of the Leo Baeck Education Center, Haifa.
The concert takes place on the evening of Tuesday 25 September at Alyth Synagogue, London, NW11.
The centrepiece will be a performance from the Peace Drums Steel Drum Band. The group brings Jewish, Christian and Muslim students together from in and around Haifa to participate in shared existence and social action projects using the universal language of music.
The Leo Baeck Education Center is a beacon for Jewish values. With nearly 2,700 students, a community centre and vibrant Progressive synagogue, the egalitarian Center serves more than 35,000 Jewish, Christian, Muslim and Bahai citizens of Haifa. It is open to every person of any religion and personal identity.
Carrie Shaw, coordinator of the Alliance for Progressive Judaism’s Israel Desk, said: “Leo Baeck Education Center is a key partner of our British Progressive movements and we are proud to support this special event.”
Rabbi Aaron Goldstein of Northwood & Pinner Liberal Synagogue, and chair of the Friends of Leo Baeck Haifa, added: “The active presence in Israel of such a long-standing Progressive institution is vital in upholding the prophetic ideals contained in Israel’s Declaration of Independence – now more than ever”
