Tamara Joseph is a community organiser from Citizens UK. Tamara’s background is in trade union organising. She was an activist and founder member of the Graduate Employees and Students Organisation (GESO) at Yale University and subsequently went on to work on collective bargaining and union recognition campaigns within the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), the Association of University Teachers (AUT) and the Transport and Salaried Staffs Association (TSSA).
It was through her social justice work that Tamara began to explore her Jewish heritage as an adult, and social justice is at the heart of her Jewish identity. In addition to her work with Citizens UK, where she also works with Middlesex University Student Union, Tamara is an active member of Finchley Progressive Synagogue and a parent governor at her local primary school where she served as Chair of Governors for four years.
