Rabbi Aaron Goldstein
Head of Community Development, Liberal
Judaism
Rabbi, Northwood and Pinner Liberal Synagogue
Rabbi Goldstein became Head of Community Development for Liberal Judaism
in 2002, following his ordination from Leo Baeck College. He
served many congregations during his training including one
in Toronto whilst transferring a year of his studies to Hebrew
Union College, New York. He grew up at Northwood and Pinner
Liberal Synagogue where he, his wife Tammy and daughter Liora
are still members. He was also involved in Liberal Judaism’s
youth movement, LJY-NETZER and spent a gap year in Israel as
a volunteer.
He has a BSc degree in Business and Administration and Ergonomics
from Aston University and BA and MA in Hebrew and Jewish Studies
from Leo Baeck College. Upon graduation from Aston, he worked
for 5 years for British Steel Strip Products, managing their
business with Japanese Vehicle Manufacturer Transplants in Europe.
Rabbi Goldstein supports the development of all the congregations
of Liberal Judaism in the UK and Europe. He works with established
congregations to strengthen their strategic development, with
smaller congregations without rabbis to support their activities
and identifies potential new congregations and supports their
establishment and development. His work for Liberal Judaism
also involves attracting unaffiliated Jews to the movement and
promoting the unique approaches of Liberal Judaism to modernity
in the light of Jewish tradition and inclusivity of people otherwise
marginalised by Judaism. Rabbi Goldstein’s wife,
Tammy is a freelance graphic designer and they met on a trip
to the Czech Republic that Rabbi Goldstein led for his father’s
community. They have two daughters, Liora and Shaia.
