Metropolitan Liberal Jewish Congregation formally - established 12 September 2004

At a public meeting held at the Crown Plaza Midland Hotel on the afternoon of Sunday 12 September, The Metropolitan Liberal Jewish Congregation of Greater Manchester and its governing Council were formally established.

Set up as an independent liberal congregation, articles of Memorandum of Association and a Constitution were adopted as was the intention to register as a Not For Profit Limited Liability Company.

Council also expressed its intention to apply for associate membership to Liberal Judaism – formerly called the Union of Liberal and Progressive Synagogues.

Council consists of James Shearer-Bromfield as President and Council Secretary, Victor Kaufman as Vice President, Kirsten Giese as Chair and Social Convener, James Eisen as Treasurer and Nick Davis as Company Secretary.

The Congregation will have its Inaugural Erev Shabbat Service on the 19th November 2004 officiated at by Rabbi Sheila Shulman of Beit Klal Yisrael Liberal Synagogue and Finchley Reform Synagogue.
