Lancaster University interfaith
centre in conjunction with the university’s Jewish Society
held a service on Friday night led by Rabbi Aaron Goldstein,
Outreach Director for Liberal Judaism.
Twenty five people including Christians and Muslims celebrated
Shabbat through an explanatory service. Over a meal cooked by
Lancaster J-Soc, the mixed-faith group discussed topical issues
such as the threat of the BNP in upcoming European and local
elections and the French ban on headscarfs.
Speaking after the service, Rabbi Goldstein said, “It
was wonderful to be able to lead a service at Lancaster University.
The inclusivity of Liberal Judaism allowed meaningful debate
on a range of current issues that affect all faiths. It also
provided an opportunity to introduce and share Liberal Judaism’s
ability to make Jewish life relevant to the modern world with
Jews and non-Jews alike.” |
