The gala reception and dinner celebrated seven decades of strengthening interfaith relations in Britain. The Queen, who is a patron of the CCJ, was accompanied by His Royal Highness, The Duke of Edinburgh. Rabbi Danny Rich is a president of the CCJ and one of its most active members. The evening was hosted by Christopher Moran, the CCJ's vice chair, and featured a speech by The Rt. Hon. Francis Maude MP, Minister for the Cabinet Office. Mr Maude told guests: "The Council of Christians and Jews has a magnificent history of building relations between faiths. For seventy years it has brought people together to focus on shared values of altruism and respect. "This mission is as important today as it has ever been. We all want a bigger, stronger society, where everyone takes responsibility for others around them. Faith groups have been doing this throughout history and must be leaders in these challenging times." |
