The latest update from our shnatties.....
Those of us still living the reform Zionist dream in the Arava on Kibbutz Lotan started their jobs on Monday, and if I may be so bold, I think we’ve all taken to our respective labour like ducks to water. I’ll now provide a list of what each person does, because it feels like I ought to – I’m sorry if it makes for a dull read:- Tara takes on the burden of satiating the appetites of hungry kibbutzniks, not once but three times a day, here in the kitchens. Dan and Abby work hard in keeping the kibbutz looking spick and span. As for me, I work with Ben in the cheese. We create fresh batches of all imaginable types of the white tasty every hour. We experiment with different flavours, and have dreams for taking the cheese global. To summarise, I’ve had another magical week. I’m pretty sure everyone else has too. Thursday was the usual fare of ulpan (Hebrew classes) and eco-based kef (fun), but the night brought new delights in the form of Neta the Hebrew teacher (or ‘morah’, in Hebrew – 20 hours of ulpan were not wasted on me) throwing an Israeli party.
