Liberal Judaism, 31st october 2011
Danny said: “Because of the early lead taken by the Quakers, Unitarians and Liberal Judaism in previous consultations on civil marriage, the heads of the three organisations were invited to meet with the minister. “I put the Liberal Jewish view forward clearly. Although there was sympathy for its contents, the Coalition Government is currently under a number of pressures. “The fact the meeting took place is not confidential, but the content of course is.” Meanwhile, the campaign has seen a major success in Scotland – with Glasgow City Council unanimously voting for a motion to allow same-sex marriage. Danny added: “I am delighted that Glasgow City Council has joined the efforts of Liberal Judaism and others to provide equality in marriage. It is a simple matter of justice.” |
