LJY-Netzer, 11th August 2011
LJY-Netzer is proud of its hadracha (youth leadership) training, and this year we have been exporting our leaders to other Jewish leadership opportunities in order to share some of the amazing skills they have with the wider Jewish world. Dan Mackenzie, Tamara Silver and Miriam Smith, some of our returning Shnatties (gap year students) are all leading on the RSY-Netzer camps, and doing a great job by all accounts. Mikha'el Wade headed for Germany in July to lead on the camp of our sister movement Netzer Germany - an amazing chance to learn from and be inspired by our continental friends. Cam Levy and Joe Lassmanhave been out in Karmiel in Israel, leading on a Kaytana (day camp), following a preparation seminar here in the UK and are having an amazing time. Elliot Steinberg has returned from a two-week stint at an Arab-Jewish co-existence camp in Akko in Israel, where he was both inspired and challenged by the work going on to bring the two communities together. Finally, Emma Marsh was a "leaders' leader" at the URJ's Camp Kutz in America. Kutz is the breeding ground for the future of American Progressive Jewish leadership, and for Emma to be on the staff is a great privilege. All in all, it's been another busy - and international - LJY-Netzer summer.
