Liberal Judaism’s officers and staff today paid tribute to departing lj today editor Beattie Sayers – and raised £250 to help some of the poorest communities around the world.
Liberal Judaism chief executive Rabbi Danny Rich gave a warm speech thanking Beattie for creating such a fantastic legacy during her six and a half years in charge of lj today. She was also presented with her own personal front page, created by Rabbi Pete Tobias.
Everyone then enjoyed a Big Bagel lunch, raising money for World Jewish Relief (WJR).
It was Liberal Judaism’s second WJR event this month, following a lunch held by members of Rabbinic Conference on June 14.
All donations are being utilised by WJR to transform the lives of primarily, but not exclusively, vulnerable Jewish communities, by reducing poverty and enabling lasting, sustainable change.
The latest issue of lj today, now edited by Simon Rothstein, has been printed and will be with communities by early next week
