Liberal Judaism - Biennial Weekend

The Liberal Judaism Biennial Weekend 2010

Details

The Liberal Judaism Biennial Weekend is your chance to be with Liberal Jews from across our movement, celebrating, learning, talking, singing and praying together, renewing old acquaintances and making new friends.

We’ve built on the success of previous years with a relaxed programme and a superb venue. This year our guest speakers will be “in debate” with Rabbis from our movement. You will be able to choose from a range of 28 different workshop sessions,  arranged in themed streams so you can choose either to explore one part of the subject in more detail or to mix and match to get a broad taste of the debate. On Friday night we will celebrate “Shabbat Resouled” with musicians from Finchley Progressive Synagogue, and we have some lively entertainment arranged for Saturday evening.

The programme will start at 7:00 pm on Friday 16th April and will finish at 4:00 pm on Sunday 18th April. You will find up to date details of the programme and our invited speakers on the Liberal Judaism website.

Children’s activities

During the main sessions a supervised crèche will be provided for the under 3's and a full educational and fun programme for those between the ages of 4 and 8.  An LJY-Netzer programme will be run for children between the ages of 8 and 15 at Tortworth Court.  If your children would like to take part you should register them as usual via the Biennial booking form, whether it be as a day visitor or for the full conference.  Please contact Selina O’Dwyer (020 7631 9822 or via the website) for details.

Sponsorship

We are very keen to encourage younger adults, whom we see as the future of our movement, to join us at the Biennial Weekend. Liberal Judaism has secured specific funding which allows us to offer a limited number of places to adults aged 40 or below at a saving of £100 per person, see above.

There may also be some Liberal Judaism sponsorship available for other adults, for example if you are unwaged or a one-parent family. Apply in confidence with a letter from your community’s Rabbi or Chairman by 31st December 2009. Some communities are offering sponsorship to their members to enable a greater number to attend the weekend; why not ask yours if this is available to you.

If you would like to help others to attend by making a £25 donation (or more) to our sponsorship fund that would be much appreciated.

Deposit

A deposit of £50 per adult will secure your place, and the balance is due by 31st January 2010. Of course, you can pay in full straight away if you prefer.

Cancellations

We regret that bookings cancelled for whatever reason after 31st January 2010 cannot be refunded in any circumstances. We strongly recommend you arrange cancellation insurance. We make no specific recommendation, however at the time of writing www.world-first.co.uk offers a UK weekend break policy with a £40 excess for those under the age of 66 for around £4 per person.
