Pesach Resources

Pesach is the festival of Passover.  It is the first of the three pilgrimage festivals, Pesach (in the Spring), Shavuot (in the Summer) and Sukkot (in the Autumn).  During Temple times they were the three times a year when the people would make pilgrimage to Jerusalem to make thanksgiving offerings for the harvest (see Exodus 23:14).

The Exodus of our ancestors from slavery in Egypt has become for us a powerful symbol of liberation in general.  It is not confined to that particular historical event, or to the Jewish people, but reinforces our belief that every human being should be able to live in freedom.  The Haggadah, the order of service for the first evening of Pesach, takes us on a journey from degradation to praise, from oppression to liberty.
