Woodford Liberal Synagogue held its final service, on the last day of Chanukah.
The special inclusive service – which is welcoming of all and caters for many forms of disability – marked the last for the community, which has now united with Bet Tikvah to form the new East London & Essex Liberal Synagogue.
A mainly musical Shabbat, led by Rabbi Richard Jacobi and Mich Sampson, ended with members lighting Chanukah candles and talking about who they gave light to, and who gave them light, on a daily basis. A special Kiddush followed, with lots of doughnuts.
Richard said: “We had a wonderful service across the generations, accessible to all and enjoyed by everyone.
“We marked the final Shabbat before becoming part of East London & Essex Liberal Synagogue with joy, dignity and celebrations of Shabbat, Chanukah and the new year of 2017.”
